Exploring Carbon Emissions & Sequestration in Malawi’s Mango and Macadamia Value Chains

In August 2024, The MVC Project evaluated the carbon emissions and sequestration of macadamia and mango value chains. The study found that both value chains are carbon-negative, with significant potential for carbon market engagement.

Key findings include:

  • Macadamia: Net sequestration of 1.25 MT CO₂e/ha.

  • Mango: Net sequestration of 1 MT CO₂e/ha.

The study highlights opportunities for carbon financing and sustainable farming practices. For detailed insights, read the full technical brief.
